Entry requirements for Cuba have recently changed. Starting July 1, 2025, the tourist card will be replaced by an electronic visa system (eVisa).
Canadians are exempt from visa requirements for tourist stays, but must complete an entry form. This form is available online, free of charge, on the government website D’Viajeros. This form should be completed no earlier than 48 hours before departure.
Next, you’ll receive a QR code that will be required at the airport before boarding. Without this proof, you won’t be able to board your flight to Cuba. Remember to keep a copy of the QR code (digital or printed) easily accessible, as you may also be asked for it on arrival.
The Cuban electrical grid operates on 220V/60Hz, unlike the 110V system in Canada. The outlets are hybrid, accepting both American flat prongs and European round prongs.
Important: check that your appliances are 220V-compatible (e.g. electric toothbrushes, razors, flat irons, etc.). A voltage converter will be required for appliances only compatible with 110V.
Wi-Fi access is available at all All-inclusive hotels in Cuba. On arrival, you will receive a personal access code for the duration of your stay. Although quality has improved in recent years, speed may vary depending on the area of the hotel and the time of day.
